About the Allis-Chalmers 175

The Allis-Chalmers 175 arrived in 1970 as a larger member of the company's Hundred series. It used a four-cylinder engine, live PTO, hydrostatic power steering, and an eight-speed partial power-shift transmission for field work.

The 175 was available with gasoline or diesel power through 1980. The early Perkins diesel was used through serial number 1458, and the larger 4.248 diesel began at serial number 1459. That change makes the serial number especially useful when checking diesel engine parts.

Serial Number Reference

Serial number locations: The tractor serial number is on the left front side of the torque housing. The gasoline engine serial number is on the left side of the cylinder block behind the carburetor. A diesel engine serial number may be on the front right side of the cylinder block near the alternator or on the front left side above the injection pump.
