About the Allis-Chalmers 7040
The Allis-Chalmers 7040 followed the 7030 in 1975 as a larger 7000 Series diesel tractor. It used a 7.0-liter six-cylinder engine, a 20-speed or 12-speed partial power-shift transmission, and independent PTO.
The 7040 was built through 1977 and was followed by the 7045. Its standard Acousta cab, power steering, and wet-disc brakes show how the 7000 Series moved toward larger and more comfortable field tractors.
