About the Allis-Chalmers CA
The Model CA followed the Model C in 1950 and gave small farms a little more speed and flexibility. It kept the compact row-crop layout and four-cylinder engine, but added a four-speed transmission and a live PTO operated by a hand clutch. That hand clutch lets the PTO keep turning while the tractor is stopped, which is useful with a mower or other PTO-driven equipment.
Built at West Allis from 1950 through 1958, the CA remained a practical tractor for cultivation, mowing, and general farm work. The model is a useful step between the older C and the newer D Series.
