About the Allis-Chalmers G
The Allis-Chalmers G was built for small farms, gardens, and vegetable growers, but it looked unlike a conventional tractor. Its Continental four-cylinder engine sat at the rear, leaving the front open for a clear view of mounted tools.
Built in Gadsden, Alabama, from 1948 through 1955, the G was a tool carrier rather than a general-purpose row-crop tractor. Allis-Chalmers offered a line of implements that mounted under the tractor, making the small machine especially useful for cultivating and other close-in work.
