About the Allis-Chalmers WD45
The WD45 replaced the WD in 1953 and gave Allis-Chalmers a stronger four-plow row-crop tractor without losing the WD's live PTO and Snap-Coupler layout. Its 226-cubic-inch gas, tractor-fuel, or LP engine made it noticeably more powerful than the WD.
The WD45 was the first Allis-Chalmers tractor offered with power steering, which became available in 1956. A six-cylinder diesel was added after Allis-Chalmers acquired Buda, and the WD45 remained in production through 1957.
Serial Number Reference
Serial number locations: The tractor serial number is stamped at the left brake cover or the left rear of the axle housing. The gasoline engine serial number is on the left-hand side of the engine near the carburetor; diesel engine numbers are on the left-hand side of the diesel engine.
